The Friulano grape’s Bordelais origins are belied by its contemporary northeastern Italian name, but this signature specialty of Friuli has recently been gaining attention. Brimming with flavors that balance between the familiar and the exotic, this is an interesting alternative to more robust examples of Pinot Grigio. With apple-skin astringency, suggestive savoriness, and almond-like waxiness, it’s delightfully food-friendly!
