Whille Marche’s Montepulciano-producing regions are less well-known than Abruzzo’s, they’re arguably much more impressive. Case in point: this bottle right here. Dense, rich, aromatic, powerful, and complex, it’s like a hug from your grandpa after he’s spent an hour sitting in the recliner by the fireplace and smoking his pipe, and so deeply colored it’ll have you singing Smoke on the Water.
Serving Suggestion: A big fat butter-basted ribeye steak w/ garlic, rosemary, & thyme. Manicotti stuffed w/ venison, ricotta, & mozzarella, topped w/ creamy besciamella. 30 to 40 olives.
