Harvested at the lower reaches of the steeply sloping (and, typically, steeply-priced) Loibenberg and Weissenkirchen vineyards, this distinctly golden, ripe, fuller-figured rendition of Austria’s signature grape offers further evidence that good things do indeed come to those who wait – doubly – as rising star Martin Mittelbach waited for stellar ripeness in order to coax decadence and concentration, and we, the wine drinkers, have waited a decade to enjoy (or revisit) the fabulous 2011 vintage. This colorful gem more than satisfies our pinings for both power and elegance.
