Karl Steininger’s impressive line of sekts focuses primarily on single varieties and channeling their characteristics into distinctive, balanced bubblies. Cabernet Sauvignon might not be the first grape that you’d envision as a candidate for fueling vibrant, refreshing sparkling wine, but its tireless acidity and bold, berryish structure translate beautifully into rosé, and, armed with the signature minerality of of Kamptal’s famed terroir, the result is nothing short of magnificent. Somewhat more full-bodied that what we’re accustomed to from Champagne but no less airy or light on its feet this capital, singular sekt!
