Firm, classic, and with brambly undercurrents that remind us of fall, this Marlborough Pinot Noir stylistically rises somewhere between its famous colleagues further south in Central Otago and those from Oregon’s Willamette Valley. Spy Valley takes its eccentric name (and Morse code-adorned label) from proximity to a nearby secret communications base, but the estate isn’t secretive about its passion for terroir and sustainability.
Serving Suggestions: Shepherd’s pie w/ lamb onions, & peas topped w/ scalloped sweet potatoes. Pizza w/ pecorino, fiddleheads, leeks, & grape tomatoes.
