Quinta de Sant’Ana, Branco, Lisboa, Portugal 2019
{organic}
83% Fernão Pires, 17% Verdelho
CRISP WHITE PEACH, ORANGE BLOSSOM & FLINT, PRISTINE
Fernão Pires is the most planted white grape in Portugal, having a reputation for being able to balance generous yields with generous flavor. When yields are low, however, the flavors become even more interesting, and here Sant’Ana provides us with low-yield Fernão Pires (blended with a little Verdelho) grown in a cool climate conducive to subtlety and acidity. The result is refreshing, ripe, lower in alcohol, impeccably clean, interesting, and easy to drink year-round.
Serving Suggestion: Pan fried flounder w/ almonds & white grape-shallot chutney. Hummus sandwich w/ carrots, bean sprouts, & cucumber.
