This example of Jacquère, Alpine white extraordinaire, channels bracingly brisk mountain vibes courtesy of 40-year-old vines planted in Savoie’s Chignin (just south of Geneva). Its blinding brightness is balanced by an impression of supple ripeness and generous orchard fruit, peppery herbs, and a whisper of lemongrass. A razory finish completes the package – almost “mountain Muscadet,” one might say, and yet entirely unto itself.
Serving Suggestions: Pan-fried freshwater fish & butternut squash risotto w/ black trumpet mushrooms & chanterelles. Washed-rind cheeses.
