The earliest records of Primitivo in Puglia come from Gioia del Colle, where an 18th century priest marveled at how this hardy variety flourished here. Mariangela Plantamura’s vineyard was first planted by her grandfather with descendants of this same priest’s vines. Her family practices organic farming to create wines that are aromatic and elegantly structured, with bright berry fruit recognizable as Zinfandel.
