Bodegas Perica, "Viña Olagosa" Gran Reserva, Rioja, Spain 2010
Mostly Tempranillo, with a little Garnacha and Mazuelo
SPICE, CLOVE, TOASTY OAK, RIPE CHERRY FRUIT
Bodegas Perica is still embracing the charm and customs of cellar-aged Spanish winemaking. Sourced from their top vineyards, these grapes are hand-picked, fermented in large French oak vats, then transferred to French oak barrels for 28 months of aging before waiting years for release in bottle. The result is simply wine magic: traditional in style, but pleasing to the modern-day drinker. This Gran Reserva is indeed grand for such a modest price.
Serving Suggestion: Braised pork belly w/ mushrooms, cippolini onions & cinnamon stick. Char-grilled vegetable kabobs w/ balsamic & oregano.
