Chateau de Marjolet, Cotes-Du-Rhone Villages "Laudun", Southern Rhone, France 2018
{organic} 70% Grenache, 30% Syrah
BLACK RASPBERRY & CHERRY, AMPLE, EARTHY SPICE, INTENSE
Like all the best producers of the southern Rhône Valley, Chateau de Marjolet crafts wines that deftly combine ampleness and elegance. This example is from the village of Laudun, which was originally better known for its whites than reds. It offers up aromas and flavors of delicate yet rich fruits that lead into hedonistic pepper, integrated tannins, satisfying richness, and a lingering finish. The result is exotic, elegant, and unmistakably reminiscent of Chateuneuf-du-Pape.
Serving Suggestion: Braised beef w/ olives, onions, & carrots. Punjabi black lentil curry w/ cream, tomatoes, ginger, garlic, cloves, & black cardamom.
