A mental snapshot: reflections of dusk sunlight on wet, black bark at a misty forest’s edge. This Old World gem by way of the Pacific Northwest is dark ruby in the glass – chiseled and perhaps a bit hungrier for protein and for fat than its refreshingly elegant attack might initially lead one to suspect. At a collision of healthy, contemporary ripeness and classically structured brightness, it eloquently represents its Willamette provenance while mediating a dialogue between Burgundian tradition and well-earned West Coast bravado.
