Günther-Chereau, Folie Blanche, Pays Nantais, Loire Valley, France 2020 100% Folle Blanche
GREEN APPLE, SALT & LIME, BOUNCY & BRIGHT Folle Blanche is rarely seen outside of the Pays Nantais, a sub-region of the Northern Loire. Locally known as Gros Plant du Pays Nantais, and referred to by locals as “the poor man’s Muscadet”, typically its racy acidity and lack of both body and complexity limited its popularity. Günther-Chereau’s ’Folie Blanche’ is an exception to this reputation. Aged on its lees through the winter for maximum complexity and bottled directly come spring. The result is a light, fresh, and tart summer drink perfect to accompany a day on your neighbor’s boat or an evening watching fireflies on the lawn. Serving Suggestion: Outstanding with homemade, mild pickles, fresh seafood and various fried comestibles. Fried oysters topped with pickled shallots, anyone?
