Picpoul / Piquepoul is a variety that’s been around for centuries, its original red form likely having been one of the key grapes in the early Chateauneuf du Pape of a half-millennium ago. These days, we’re more familiar with the white mutation, and this beautiful bubbly actually features the seldom-spotted “Gris” variant. Creamy, vibrant, and every bit as spectacular with seafood and oceanfront views as one might expect, this unexpected gem is not to be missed. Surf’s up.
