Casa Los Frailes, La Moma, Valencia, Spain 2015
{biodynamic} 50% Monastrell, 50% Marselan
RASPBERRY & BLACK FIG, ROASTY MOCHA, CEDAR
The name refers to the blend of MOnastrell with MArselan (a crossing of Grenache and Cabernet Sauvignon, engineered in the mid-20th century). Aged for 15 months in new French oak, this tenacious tinto has a concentration of fruit more than able to soak up and gracefully integrate the spice. Full-bodied, rich yet round, bold and intense, with ripe tannins- be sure to decant for at least an hour, and serve with hearty fare.
Serving Suggestion: Grilled ribeye w/ roasted garlic mashed potatoes. Braised lamb shank w/ rosemary. Roasted veggie & black bean casserole.
