Matteo Correggia, "Anthos" Vino Rosso, Piedmont, Italy 2023 100% Brachetto
BERRYISH AROMAS, PASTORAL VIBES, BRIGHT YET SOFT
Before passing away too young, Matteo Correggia was a pioneer in his corner of the Piedmonte, Roero. His widow continued his vision, and this wine is a great example. Her "Anthos" cuvee is made from the Brachetto grape – only ever seen in the Piedmonte and almost exclusively used in light, sweet, fizzy wines. This beautiful red, however is dry, serious and elegant. Simultaneously delicate and expansive, it strikes us as being both gentle and generous with it’s berryish intensity, soft tannin, and floral tones.
Serving Suggestions: Savory borscht w/ sour cream & shredded carrot. Holiday ham feast w/ breadcrumb casserole & cranberry sauce.
