A grape variety from the super-obscure category: Bukettraube or Bouquettraube [France]. This grape is planted in miniscule amounts in France, Germany and South Africa. Think of this as a wine that tastes like Chenin Blanc meets Sauvignon Blanc meets Riesling and Muscat. Big and friendly, spicy and slightly off-dry, Cederberg’s version shows apricot, honey, peach, gooseberry and exotic melon flavors. The palate has a touch of sweetness only to be balanced by a wallop of acidity on the finish, like a sweet tart.
Serving Suggestion: A must with anything hot and spicy. Curries and Thai or Indian foods. Also great with strong cheeses like Stilton.
