Beaumont Family Wines, Pinotage, Bot River, South Africa, 2019
{sustainable} 100% Pinotage
BLACK CHERRY & CURRANT, LEATHER, BLACK TEA & VANILLA
This uniquely South African crossing (created by Professor Abraham Perold in 1925) is infamous for its smoky, meaty persona, but this rendition also has poise, elegance, and balance rarely encountered in wines made from the grape. Dating back to the 1700s, this estate’s cellar was originally operated by the legendary Dutch East India Company. Its contemporary history began in the mid-70’s when it was purchased by the Beaumont family.
Serving Suggestion: Mesquite smoked brisket w/ a mission fig & port gastrique & potato skins. Loaded baked sweet potato w/ refried black beans, cilantro, avocado, & smoked paprika.
