Germany’s Rheingau is almost certainly the precise origin of the ancient variety known as Riesling. Typically and classically produced in a dry/trocken style (as is the case with this example), these ambassadorial whites aren’t as common as we might like, and they’re often more expensive than we would prefer. Ulrich Allendorf represents the second generation of his family’s 70 year old, completely non-irrigated estate, crafting clean, vibrant wines that sing with uninhibited, Riesling-ish energy and elegance.
Serving Suggestion: Singapore noodles w/ eggs, yellow onion, bell peppers, & curry powder. Pizza with pineapple (don’t hate!), anchovies, & capers.
